Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you. I would like to reflect with you upon the Sacrament of Matrimony, a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, which is rooted in the teachings and profound wisdom of the Catholic Church.
The Sacrament of Matrimony is a gift from God, designed to be a reflection of the love and unity shared between Christ and His Church. Through this Sacrament, a man and a woman enter into a lifelong commitment to love, honor, and support one another, forming a partnership that is rooted in faith and guided by the teachings of Christ.
The Church, in its wisdom and pastoral care, encourages God’s people to marry within the Church community. This is because the Sacrament of Matrimony is not merely a private event but a public commitment that has far-reaching implications. By marrying in the Church, couples are not only surrounded by the love and support of the faith community, but they also receive the graces and blessings that flow from the Sacrament. The Church is a source of spiritual nourishment, guidance, and support for couples as they embark on their journey of marital love. It provides a solid foundation for their relationship, rooted in the teachings of Christ and the wisdom of the Church.
On the other hand, the Church discourages God’s people from marrying outside the Church or in non-religious settings, such as the beach or elsewhere. This is not because the Church seeks to limit or control the choices of individuals, but rather because it recognizes the importance of a Sacramental Marriage and the unique role that the faith community plays in supporting couples in their journey. Marrying in the Church signifies a commitment to live out the Sacrament within the context of the faith community, where couples can find spiritual nourishment, guidance, and the support of fellow believers.
Choosing to marry in the Church is a decision that should not be taken lightly. It is a commitment to embrace the teachings of the Church and to strive for holiness within the marital relationship. If you or your children are considering marriage in the Church, I encourage you to reach out to the parish office at (561) 488-1373 for more information. The parish staff will be more than happy to assist you and provide you with the guidance and support you need as you prepare for this sacred sacrament.
May God bless you abundantly as you discern His will for your lives and may He guide you in your journey of love and fidelity within the Sacrament of Matrimony.
Yours in Christ,Fr. Dominic Toan Tran, Pastor
