The Religious Education program of St John’s Parish is intended to deepen the faith and understanding of our children. The program is designed to have continuity from first through eighth grade. The Church recognizes that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children, and we strive to assist you in their faith development. All grade levels of religious education are essential, each assisting the child in growing in a more profound knowledge of God and their faith and an increased awareness of their responsibilities as a disciple of Jesus Christ and as a member of the Catholic Christian community. Skipping years in between sacraments does not allow for adequate faith formation. It is difficult, if not impossible, for a child and teacher to make up for inadequate preparation. We strongly encourage children to attend religious education every year.
A Letter from the Pastor
Dear Parents,
I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all of you as we embark on a new journey of religious education at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. I understand that in the midst of your busy lives and the multitude of activities that your children are involved in, it can sometimes be challenging to prioritize their spiritual formation. However, I believe that nurturing your children’s faith is an essential aspect of their overall development.
As Jesus Himself said, “Let the children come to me.” We are called to foster an environment where children can grow in their understanding and love for God. I invite you to actively participate in this formation process by living your faith daily. By doing so, you become a living example for your children to follow, and you contribute to the spiritual growth of our entire community.
I recognize the demands and burdens that life often places upon all of us but let’s remember the comforting words of Jesus: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” Through our faith, we find solace, strength, and a source of renewal that can sustain us in the midst of life’s challenges.
The teachers and assistants who selflessly serve in our catechetical ministry are dedicated and committed to sharing the teachings of our faith with your children. They play a vital role in shaping their spiritual journey, and we are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts.
Together, as a community of parents, educators, and spiritual guides, let’s embrace this opportunity to support and encourage one another in raising children who are grounded in their faith. Let’s create an environment where your children can encounter Jesus and develop a personal relationship with Him.
I am excited about the upcoming religious education program and the countless blessings it holds for your children. May God’s grace guide us all as we embark on this journey together. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you and your family every step of the way.
Fr. Dominic Toan Tran, Pastor
