How can we incorporate God’s Word into our lives?
The 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time calls us to ponder the essence of true
fulfillment and the crucial role of seeking divine wisdom. In the first reading from
the Book of Wisdom we are reminded of the power of prayer and contemplation:
“I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came
to me.” This verse underscores that wisdom is not a product of our efforts or
desires but a divine gift bestowed upon those who earnestly seek God. In our
hectic lives, how frequently do we rush through our days, striving to fulfill our
ever-growing desires without seeking God’s guidance or reflecting on what we
truly need?
Wisdom, as portrayed in Scripture, is not just about intellectual knowledge
but a profound understanding of God’s purpose for our lives. It guides us to
discernment, enabling us to distinguish between fleeting desires and lasting
fulfillment. When we pray for wisdom, we open ourselves to God’s transformative
love, a love that can reshape our desires toward what truly matters.
In the second reading, St. Paul reaffirms the power and relevance of God’s
Word, declaring, “Indeed the word of God is living and effective.” The Word of
God is not a static entity; it is a living, breathing force that speaks to us in the
present and challenges us to grow. We must consider how to incorporate the
living Word into our daily lives actively. Are we making time to read and meditate
on Scripture? Doing so allows God’s Word to shape our thoughts, actions, and
desires. It invites us to cultivate a relationship with God that transcends our
immediate wants, leading us to a more profound sense of peace and fulfillment.
Incorporating God’s Word into our lives guides and supports us on our journey.
Furthermore, gathering as a family to pray the Rosary is a beautiful way to
embody this call for wisdom and connection. The Rosary, a powerful prayer that
guides us through the life of Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary, is an
expression of our faith and a way to seek wisdom. In praying together, we unite
in our shared faith, and express our gratitude for the gift of life as well for the
Blessed Mother Mary’s intercession and guidance on our spiritual journey.
Dear brothers and sisters, this week’s readings challenge us to seek wisdom
and embrace the living Word of God in our lives. As we gather as families to pray,
let us express deep gratitude for our lives and the blessings we receive each
day. May we allow the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for us, guiding us toward
a deeper relationship with God. Let us learn the value of waiting and trusting in
His perfect timing and find joy in the wisdom and love that God freely offers.Fr. Dominic Toan Tran, Pastor
