K of C Booklets on Prayer
Prayer – Peter Kreeft
The most important thing about prayer: Not how we do it but that we do it.
Peter discusses the following in his booklet on Prayer:
Purposes of prayer: Adoration, Thanksgiving, Repentance, Intercession, Petition.
Kinds or prayer:
Private (alone)
Public (as a group, Mass, K of C meeting),
Formal (composed by someone for us, i.e. The Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary)
Vocal prayer: aloud
Praying Scripture (Lectio divina)
Meditation: with silent words.
Contemplative (listen for the Lord)
We have a group in contemplative prayer on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 in the Day Chapel.

The Lord’s Prayer – Peter Kreeft
Peter gives a short thought on each verse of the Lord’s Prayer. For instance on page 15 he gives us some thoughts on “Give us this day our daily bread”, with the following thoughts:
What we need this day, God knows.
The Word of God; we do not live by bread alone.
The Bread of Life, the Eucharist.
